My lovely tortilla wraps

It's a weekend without Shalom. He went back to Hadyai for his lovely holiday. So meaning I have to settle my own lunch and dinner. I always wanted to make tortilla wraps after I had burritos in Cha Cha Cha in Holland V. It's actually not that hard to make your own. All you need is only 30 mins to wash, cut, wrap and clean up. Fast huh?
Ok the ingredients:-
a. Purple Cabbage (one or two leaves - shredded for two tortillas)
b. Lettuce (one or two leaves - shredded for two tortillas)
c. Cherry tomatoes (3-4 per tortilla)
d. Sausage (any kind that you prefer)
e. Tuna mayonaise (or any other kind that you love)
f. Mayonaise (your preference)
g. Chilli Sauce (your preference)
h. Most importantly - Tortilla Wrap
Steps:-
1. Lay the tortilla wrap flat on the plate.
2. Put in the ingredients from (a-d/e).
3. Topped with mayonaise and chilli sauce.
4. Wrap them in any shape that you want to present.
5. Heat in oven or microwave according to the instructions on the tortilla wrap if you want it hot. Else you can just serve it right away!!

Fast right? It's really great for people who are busy and wish to keep their calories low. You may say mayonaise if fattening. No worries it wont be fattening if you dont overdone it. Just nice. I lose about 1 kg just by eating those for 3 days in a row for my lunch. Of course for dinner I eat less calories food as well.

It's just a nice little filling and healthy meal. Enjoy the try-out!! Maybe you can try to replace sausage and tuna with ham, borkwurst, luncheon meat, bacon, cheese, etc .... Cooking good food is all about experimenting the correct combination! So dont be afraid to be failed. You would never know how it will turn out ^_^...

Birthday treats at Cha Cha Cha, Mexican Restaurant

Let's Cha Cha tonight!!! I am not talking about dancing here but a restaurant located at Holland V. Yeap I went to this Mexican restaurant for my birthday celebration! It's located beside NYDC. If you dont know where NYDC is then just go along the pedestrian path starting from Crytal Jade --> passing a lot of restaurants (Thai Express, Pho Hoa are the main landmark) --> NYDC. It is located just right beside NYDC, a building that is a little bit protuded out. You can see it. No worries.
This restaurant is really really REEEEEEAAAAAAAAALLY a must try! Definitely you will never ever regret it!!!!!!!

First thing served was a free snack from the restaurant .Tortillas chips with their specialty sour sauce. This is a great one. Unlike the tortilla that you get in those snack packets they are totally different! Crispier, thinner and no salt and msg! Nice!

Soup *something*something*cos. It's basically chicken breast chunk boiled with lots of onions, lots of tomatoes and their herbs and spices which i dont know. But definitely got pepper. Also it has tortilla inside and coriander that used for garnishing the dish. Though it's not as big as I expected, the soup was really good man! It will really let you make the AH~ sound after drinking it. You will love it as much as I love it!!

Nachos nachos. At first, I thought it's going to be the same as the one that always get in the cinemas. But but ... I was wrong. Totally wrong. What they did here is, they use the pizza concept. Instead of dough, tortillas chips were used to replace the dough. Then, they laid a thick layer of mozzarella on top of the tortillas and melt the cheese. Lastly, they top it up with sour green chillies and tomatoes. It doesnt taste as cheezy as what you get at the cinemas. The cheese is very springing. Very nice. Delicioso! Delicioso! Delicioso!!

Our main dish is Chichimicas. This is basically a deep fried burritos. But I prefered the one without deep fried. Shredded beef is wraped in the burritos. At the bottom of the plate, it was laid with shredded cabbage. The toppings comprises of avocado cream, cream cheese, tomatoes and their specialty sauce. Taste very very very good. Muy muy sobroso!!! Hmmmmm.......... But the beef smell was a little bit too strong. Probably can use something to remove the beef smell??

After the meal, we watched Tom and Jerry in that restaurant. Yes, it plays Tom and Jerry on the LCD tv. Unique huh? It makes you feel really at home. Watching tv while eating ... hahahhaha .... it was reminiscing the young little me ....... hahhahahaha. Suddenly, the waiter appear right beside me when I was sooo attracted by the cartoon. He said "Happy birthday!" I was overwhelmed and happy!!! Though it was not a very big deal cake and flowers but I was really happy to get this surprise. Something that I never encounter before!

Thank you Shalom for making this birthday a worth remembering one na ja .... Mmmmmmmmmmmmmuuuuuuuuaaaaaaaaaaaaccccccccks!!!! So happy *GRINNNNS*

Thai Food in Golden Mile ... AROY MAAAAAAAK MAAAAAAAAAA

Went to Golden Mile for Thai food a few weeks back with Shalom. He went there to get his bus ticket home. This restaurant is a frequent visit restaurant by us and some of our Thai friends. The food is more towards the Northern Thai type of delicacies. So dont ask for stir-fried food here. They dont provide it. Oh ya forgot to mention where this restaurant is. This restaurant is located at the 1st level/groundfloor (depending on how you interprete it) opposite Huat Thai Seafood Restaurant. Not sure what is the restaurant name though =P. Always forget to note it down. Hehehehe...
Salad is a must-try in any thai restaurant. This will help you to test the authenticity of the food. According to Shalom, this is authentic enough. I love the way they make the mango salad or they called it "Yam Mamuang" in Thai. It comprises of shallots, unripe mango (less sour type), peanuts, bird chillies, dried baby shrimps (you can see the whole shrimps and the shrimps are really really small), fish sauce, lime and sugar ... I think. That's according to my taste. It is a refreshing kind of salad but if you have low tolerance of spicy you need to remind the owner to reduce the number of chillies that they put it inside. Except tom yam, this is my all-time favourite!!

Grilled/roasted pork. Different from our char siew, the roasted pork is quite dry from outside but succulent from inside. You have to eat it with this "moo nam chim" (pork dipping) sauce to make the dish a whole. Else it will be too boring to just eat with the pork only. The trick here is the sauce. And normally whether the food is good or not it is always based on sauce. This taste alright to me as I dont really love the sauce as much as the sauce next dish. The sauce goes well with the pork too....

Out of the three dishes I love this fish the most. At first sight, the fish doesnt look appealing at all. It has its scales on. On top of the scales they covered it with a thick salt. In the stomach of the fish, it is stuffed with lemongrass. After finishing all these procedures, they grilled the fish (I saw in a food documentary once .. hehehhe). The fish is AWWEEESOOOOMEEE!!! Very tender meat as if it melts in your mouth. It tastes really good even without the "pla nam chim". Love the dish here!

Next time if you happen to pass by Golden Mile do not miss this opportunity to try on this restaurant. Their grilled spring chicken taste great too. You guys should try it. Dont order rice like us. Go for their sticky rice for a better taste!

Till then folks and see you guys next time ^_^

The Volcano Ramen

Went to Ajisen for lunch at Tiong Bahru somewhere in Nov 2009. We ordered a set meal that comes with two side dishes and a drink. Not sure if they are still having this promotion though.

Takoyakis was something that we will not miss in any Japanese eateries that me and Shalom went. This was the first takoyakis that taste similar to the one that I ate in Akibahara Electric town in Japan.

Next we have this fried Ebi. This taste just on the average.

Finally, the main course!!! The VOLCANO RAMEN!!! IT should be an extremely hot and spicy ramen. Yes, it is. It made our tongue go numb. But it was tasty though. You just cant stop to feel the excitement of the spiciness of this ramen and you will yearn for more of it. You guys should try it next time ^_^
